An underbite is a common orthodontic condition characterized by lower teeth that jut in front of your front upper teeth when you close your mouth. An underbite, also called a class three malocclusion, happens when your lower jaw is displaced and sits too far forward.

Does Invisalign Work for an Underbite?

Invisalign aligners can fix certain types of underbites. Severe underbites may require additional treatment options, such as surgery, to correct the position of your jaw. However, in most cases, Invisalign can work for class three underbites when combined with these other treatments.

Invisalign are clear, plastic aligners that come in sets. Every two weeks or so, you replace your aligners with another set. After wearing the aligners for up to 22 hours each day, Invisalign changes the position of your teeth, slowly correcting your underbite with each new set.
