An overbite is a misalignment of the front teeth. This malocclusion is also called an overjet, and it occurs when your upper front teeth protrude over your lower jaw. Severe overbite cases can actually cause the lower front teeth to bite into the upper palate. Overbites may be an inherited dental issue.
